From the President
Greetings
from a sunshine filled Skagit Valley! It’s summer
season on the farm, which means we are at full speed processing daffodil and tulip bulbs. After harvesting
(digging) our fields, bulbs were cleaned and dried and are now undergoing
multiple checks for quality and size. Only the biggest and best will reach our customers with the rest set
aside for planting back into our fields. With nearly 1000 acres of bulbs, we always aim to get a head start on the fall season and start planting our fields by early September. This allows us to get all of the bulbs tucked into the earth in a timely manner. However, we recommend gardeners across the northern half of the country wait until at least the last week of September to plant your flowerbeds at home. We follow the same time line for planting at RoozenGaarde. Bulb orders to our cool zone customers across the United States and Canada will start to ship from our farm the last week of September and be ready for planting upon arrival. Warm and hot zone customers will receive their bulbs at a later date after a period of pre-cooling. May you all enjoy the last few weeks of summer! ![]() Leo Roozen Getting Your Flower Beds Ready for Fall:
Looking to add compost or other organic matter to your garden? Do it now
if your flower beds allow. Starting the practice in the summer permits these
materials to break down and better blend into the soil in time for the fall.
Not all flower beds will need or require additions, but if you plan to do so,
starting early can help. FREE Bulbs – Don’t Miss Your Chance
Bulbinars (Fall Planting Seminars)
At the conclusion, attendees are welcome to
roam the Display Garden and watch our crew in action planning and planting the
flower beds – an undertaking that requires hundreds of thousands of
bulbs! Q&A How do
