Yellow Trumpet Daffodils
The classics amongst daffodils, the Yellow Trumpet grouping includes the most popular of the daffodil varieties. Previously known as "King Alfred", each golden yellow bloom includes six petals surrounding a long trumpet – in fact, the trumpet is typically longer than the length of the petals. Large blooms are further highlighted by a rather long blooming season which makes these types excellent additions to any garden. Yellow Trumpets look wonderful planted in small groupings or larger clusters and make a solid choice for fresh cut stems. Slight physical attributes differentiate the members of this grouping, and we offer a choice for each of the early (Dutch Master), middle (Flower Carpet), and late (Standard Value) season bloomers.

Perhaps the world's most easily recognized flower, daffodils can be grown almost anywhere in the United States and Canada and naturalize extremely well in most climate zones. Daffodils are famous for announcing the arrival of spring with their famous trumpet shaped blooms. Most commonly seen flowering in yellow colors, daffodil blooms can be found in a handful of other colors and a number of bi-colored combinations as well.

Daffodil bulbs must be planted during the autumn months so that they can grow and develop a flower that blooms during the spring. Each bulb should grow multiple stems; some varieties will have one bloom per stem while others will grow multiple blooms per stem. Flowers last for an extended period of time in the garden and make great fresh cut blooms as well. Daffodils require very little gardening care, naturalize very well, and perhaps most appealing: are completely resistant to deer and rodents!

Did not perform as well the second season
May 6, 2021  |  By Tina
All the Dutch Master bulbs bloomed the first year but only about a third returned the second year. They are planted next to Ice Follies and Cheerfulness which did really well. Not quite sure why the difference given they were grown in the same conditions.

Fresh cut flowers are only half of what we do at Tulips.com. We also have a great selection of tulip bulbs, daffodil bulbs, hyacinth bulbs, and other specialty flower bulbs for spring blooming. Customers can place bulb orders from February to December for the biggest and best flower bulbs available anywhere - including Holland. The mild maritime climate of the Skagit Valley allows our bulbs an extended growing season to mature and grow to larger sizes - growth that is supplemented by the rich topsoil of the valley. Need proof? Check out the blooms that the Tulips.com bulbs produce at our RoozenGaarde display garden. After our fields of flowers have been topped, the bulbs are allowed to mature and multiply, and are then harvested. Tulips.com then selects the largest bulbs from each year's crop so you can grow the same beautiful tulips and daffodils in your own home gardens.
